Goshen Watch

We all want to live in a safe place though we need to work together to make this happen. Watch this page for tips to stay safe and information around what’s up in Goshen and scheduled meetings.

Every 3rd Thursday of the month

Next scheduled meeting:

April 16, 2026 @ 5:30 pm

Augusta Fire Department Station #19 1600 Brown Road

As a 6 year resident and someone who is fairly well known and invested in our community’s safety and well-being, I will be taking on the role of Head of the Neighborhood Watch Program. With a background in various trades and a passion for vehicles, I’ve developed an eye for detail—especially when it comes to identifying vehicle makes and models. This skill will help us pinpoint and track suspicious activity involving vehicles but, not limited to any and all information we can capture about clothing, accessories, amount of people, etc. I’m excited to work together to keep our neighborhood secure and connected. Let’s make a difference as a team! ~Joe Puleo

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with various duties that will be needed for the Goshen Watch. Please click on the button below to let us know that you want to be involved.

Notes from Watch Meetings:

2026

March 23, 2026 (In Person)

The meeting was held at the Augusta Fire Department Station #19 (1600 Brown Rd)

We had 6 people in attendance.

The main agenda item for this meeting was to discuss how we conduct watches throughout the neighborhood.

  1. We need to form a team of people who are willing to go around the neighborhood
    • Scheduling will not be formal at this time
    • We are asking people to commit to a few days a week and they can choose their time of day
    • The purpose is to notice anything out of the normal and start providing a presence
  2. We need a way to communicate
    • For now, it will be through a text group
    • Brandon said that he could let us know of an app that would be good for this
    • We don’t want to use Facebook as the primary location of contact; we will build the page on the website to accept information
    • Ultimately, we would want a single pager number for people to contact that will forward the message along to the team
  3. We do have some equipment
    • Joe has some Walkie Talkies that the GRA has purchased for the team
    • Bonnie got some recording devices that she gave to people to try out
      • Head Lamp Recorder – Solomon
      • Body Cam Recorder – Joe
      • Flashlight Recorder – Tom
    • Depending on how this works, we may get more for the team to help – a picture is worth a thousand words; imagine a video 🙂
  4. We decided to try and meet regurlarly on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
    • Meeting will be given in person or via Zoom – and posted ahead of time.

2025

December 19, 2025 (Zoom)

The meeting was held on Zoom and started at 7pm.

We had 3 people in attendance.

This was a remote meeting that we wanted to keep to 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the recording did not have audio

  • The subject: setting up some type of monitoring coverage based on the volunteers in the neighborhood. Joe explained his idea…
    • At this time, there will not be a formal rotation. We ask that residents take time look around the neighborhood when they are out – whether it be on a walk or driving back from an errand.
    • Take time to notice anything out of the ordinary. This is about checking for safety, not interfering with people’s privacy.
  • If you see something,,,
    • If it needs to be reported to the police, please do so first.
      • The Goshen Watch is not in place of the police
      • It is important to get police reports created for disorderly incidents
    • Then let the Goshen Watch know.
      • For now, we will be using the chat channel for the Goshen Watch that exists on the Official Goshen FB page – though seems to be gone so will follow -up.
      • If you do not use FB, please contact us above (“I want to help” button) so we can work with you to include you in the communication
  • If there is an issue, the police should be called.
    • The Watch is not to be used in place of police but as a community resource working with law enforcement
  • Get a police report.
    • Especially if this is something that happens repeatedly. As a community, we need to document our encounters so t6hat we have a history of proof to show.
  • In the future, we’d like to divide the neighborhood into “blocks” and have some “blockheads” – perhaps a better name – that would work with the people in their area to stay safe and informed.
  • We are looking for people to help so let us know!
  • Our next meeting will be in January – date not set.
November 13, 2025 (In Person)

The meeting was held at Goshen Realty (1667 Goshen Rd) and started at 7pm.

We had 5 people in attendance.

As there was no formal agenda, the floor was opened to suggestions around how we rebuild the Goshen watch.

  1. We need to know what we are doing right now. The response from the group:
    • Some residents do pay attention to things as they go around the neighborhood. No formal structure.
    • Call or text GRA board members to let them know that there is a situation
    • Comments on Goshen Residents Facebook page
  2. Is there a template that we could use to assist with the creation of this team?
    • Chrissy suggested that we look at a neighborhood in the Hills area that had encountered issues though now is in a good state
  3. We know there are some issues that consistently come up in the neighborhood, how should we deal with this?
    • If there is an issue, the police should be called.
      • The Watch is not to be used in place of police but as a community resource working with law enforcement
    • Get a police report.
      • Especially if this is something that happens repeatedly. As a community, we need to document our encounters so t6hat we have a history of proof to show.
  4. We also want to help bring the community together and educate them on things that will help keep them safe.
    • We will have Zoom meetings every other week that we will record and post on our website.
      • These are meant to be about 20 minutes long with 10 minutes of info from a Goshen Watch team member and 10 minutes to open the floor to new business
  5. We are looking to create an admin committee for the Watch so that responsibilities and projects are divvied up and executed
  6. CTA Checklist:
    • Linda
      • Create a Zoom account for the GRA; let Bonnie have access
      • Contact Joe around watch committee and co-chair
    • Chrissy
      • Contact the neighborhood mentioned as a template for Watches so that we can ask questions; find out how much they pay for a patrol car
      • Reach out to police people in the neighborhood to see if they want to participate
    • Bonnie
      • Contact Jacob to get him involved
      • Ask Trisha for map of Goshen to use for setting up blocks
      • Send flashlight with video recorder link from Amazon to Chrissy to consider for purchase for the Watch
    • Catt
      • Look into AirTags to be used with Android phones
      • Research ways to set up a neighborhood watch
